Nasa Pinas ngayon ang sentimental songstress na si Imelda Papin to promote “I Love You, an album she recorded in USA.  Yhnis album was released in the U.S. as “Voice of the Heart.” Bukod dito, magkakaroon ng malaking concert sa PICC sa September 18 ang sentimental diva at si Melissa Manchester ang makakasama nito.   Melissa Manchester is a Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter known for “Don’t Cry Out Loud” and “The Promise.”

Sa September 21 naman ay magkakaroon din siya ng concert sa  Pacific Grand Balroom of Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Lahug, Cebu on September 20.

“I will be here until October 5 as I will be donating a dialysis machine to a hospital that can be used for free by poor patients,” sabi pa nito. “I’m also opening a museum of my memorabilia in Quezon City.”

Totoo ba na nakapag-asawa siya ng mayaman and they live in a mansion that used to be owned by a big Hollywood movie star? “I don’t want to talk about that as I might be misinterpreted na nagyayabang ako. Basta I’m very happy now and if you’d go to the States, you’re welcome to visit our home. My husband is a very simple man who’s in the health care business and he’s very supportive of me and my career.”

Kumusta na si Maffi, ‘yung nag-isang anak niya kay Bong Carreon?

“She’s married now and has one child.”

Babalik pa ba siya sa pulitika? Dati siyang vice governor sa Camarines Sur, hindi ba?

“No as I want to show kung paano manilbihan sa tao nang tama, but right now I’m concentrating on my career in the U.S. kasi sayang naman ang opportunities that are coming my way there, especially in Las Vegas which is the live entertainment capital. I’m also hosting a two-hour radio show, ‘Imelda Papin Voice of the Heart’ on KLAV 1230 AM Talk of Las Vegas, and a TV show, ‘Imelda Papin in America’, on L.A.18.”

Her new album was recorded in the States and distributed in the U.S. and Canada by the Warner Music Group. It has 14 songs that include the international hit “Sugar Sugar” which she does as a duet with the original singer Ron Dante of the Archies. Other good cuts are “For All I Am,”  “Dance with My Father,” “Night Life Woman,”   “Simply the Best” and the carrier single “I Love You.”  Her concert with Melissa Manchester was first staged at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to great acclaim on July 31 and Aug. 2. Here, it’s produced by Viva Concerts. Ticket prices at the PICC range from P525 to P5,250 while in Cebu, from P500 to P3,000.
