Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. with Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Head Irish Bonus-Llego, inspect the Gawang Angeleno products being sold in one of the One Town One Product (OTOP) kiosks located inside the Angeles City Hall compound.

In celebration of Labor Day this May, the One Town One Product (OTOP) Store managed by the City Government of Angeles will go live for its second online selling activity this April 30, 2021.

Dubbed ‘Labor of Love’, Executive Assistant IV and #GawangAngeleño advocate Reina Manuel said the live selling event was conceptualized to give recognition to striving local small and medium enterprises, who, despite the pandemic, have been trying to make ends meet.

Manuel said the merchants in OTOP have agreed to set aside 15% of the total sales for the live selling to purchase livelihood kits for accessories and lanyard making, which will be given to beneficiaries of their choosing.

The beneficiaries will also be trained under the supervision of the Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO), which manages the OTOP Angeles Store.

The finished product will then be displayed for selling at the OTOP Angeles Stores.

At present, on display at the OTOP Angeles store are handwoven bayong bags, coin purse made from recycled straw plastics, hand stitched hair ribbons, upcycled fashion accessories, rattan baskets and furniture, photo frames made of capiz shells, miniature ships made from bamboo and water bonsai in glass vase, — all Angeleño made.

Meanwhile, Manuel reported that last March 2021, OTOP Angeles Store yielded a total of P54,609.75 sales from it’s Women’s Month Promo wherein all ladies were given 15% discount on their purchases. Sales from walk-in customers at the Main Store in Heritage District is P8,599; P35,976.75 from Kiosk 1 and 2 at the City Hall and P10,034 from the Shopee store.

“Bagama’t may pandemya po tayong kinahaharap ay tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang suporta ng publiko sa ating mga Angeleño products. Maging ang mga karatig nating probinsya ay kinikilala na ang talento ng ating mga kababayan,” Manuel added.

Lastly, ACEDIPO Officer-in-Charge Irish Llego encourages Angeleños and OTOP Store patrons to support the live selling event.

“Napakaganda po ng layunin ng live selling event na ito and we encourage everyone to participate dahil bukod sa makakabili na po kayo ng locally made pero world class products, makakatulong pa po kayo upang makapagbigay ng pangkabuhayan sa ating kapwa Angeleños,” Llego said.

In September 2019, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin, Jr. opened the OTOP Angeles store with a mission to support local but high-grade producers and manufacturers but was closed due to Covid-19 Pandemic.

It was re-opened in June 2020 after the enhanced community quarantine was lifted in the city. Lazatin waived the P500 admin fee to help pandemic-hit business owners to bounce back and adapt to the new normal.
