MABALACAT, Pampanga – “A performing and prepared water district will help us attract more investors and projects crucial to the development of Mabalacat.”

This was the message of Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales during the inauguration of the P150-million central pumping facility and ground reservoir of the Mabalacat Water District (MWD) on Tuesday.

He said the facility is expected to address the demand for water here in the next 20 years,
MWD officials welcomed their guests, including Morales and Local Water Utilities Administrator (LWUA) Prospero Pichay, at the event marked by powerpoint presentation of the new multi-million facility.

MWD General Manager Atty. Francis Dimaliwat led the blessing and inauguration of the facility in Barangay Camachiles. From 12,000 concessionaires in 2001, the MWD now has at least 30,000.

Dimaliwat disclosed that the MWD’s central pumping facility will allow the steady supply of water during peak hours.

“When many people use water at the same time, the volume of water coming out from the faucets is low. This is the primary purpose of this project,” said Dimaliwat in the dialect

Dimaliwat assured Morales that the town will not have a problem with the supply of water in “many years ahead.”

Morales, for his part, thanked MWD officials for “helping the town become a city in due time.”

Diosdado “Deng” Pangilinan, MWD chairman of the board, disclosed that the Allied Bank and Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) had given them the loan for the project.

Pangilinan underscored the importance of the pumping facility and reservoir project seen to make “MWD more competitive.”

He added that “it complements the cityhood of Mabalacat.”
