ANGELES CITY – The city council has searched for options to improve the traffic conditions here, including the creation of modern parking facilities widely used in China and Japan.

Councilor Jay Sangil said he had welcomed the proposal of a private firm to establish parking spaces in traffic-prone areas, including in the downtown. The technology allows cars to be parked on top of each other.

Sangil said he will urge Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting to support the projects on a “joint venture agreement.”

“We have unused lots in Rizal St., Barangay San Nicolas and we can ask them to develop them for modern parking technology,” Sangil said.

Renato Go, general manager of Guanzhou Yeelong Industry (GYI) presented in the city council session on Tuesday their projects in Metro Manila. He added that they had developed the same projects in Asian countries.

Robert Sy, also of GYI, said that private schools and traders had expressed their intention to establish the projects near the Angeles University Foundation (AUF) and Holy Angeles University.

Sangil said private entities should “indeed support the projects” by allowing GYI to establish them in busy areas.

“If there are vacant lots, then those will be handy. It’s one good way to maximize space and improve the traffic condition,” he said.

Sangil’s projects is supported by his fellow councilors, it was learned.
