CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Strongly pushing for “life and livelihood” to help cushion the socio-economic status of the country, presidential candidate Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, on Wednesday, said he is eyeing on the benefits of the workers in Pampanga.

According to Moreno, during his press briefing at the Pampanga Capitol, he will not decrease the percentage of the allocated tax of the local and national government as the income and extra social services of the LGUs produce more economic returns in the national government.

“Ang mga manggagawa ang nagbibigay buhay sa ekonomiya and I am for jobs. Layunin namin ni Doc Willie, in the next two years, life and livelihood, yun and focus namin,” said Moreno.

“Ayoko ng bawasan ang kinikita ng local government kasi alam kong maraming gastusin. But if my figures are correct, 2% goes to the local government and 3% goes to national government, papagaralan namin to focus on a particular percentage from the 3% na nakukuha ng national government na maibalik sa mga workers inside Clark for example,” Moreno added.

The Aksyon Demokratiko team also said they will study how much percentage of the allocated tax is really needed as their main objective will be for the benefit of the workers and MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises).

“Nung unang punta namin dito nakita namin ang situation that time. Ngayon siguro kailangan alalayan ng gobyerno ang ating industries para mas magkaroon ng lakas ng loob para lumabong ang kanilang sitwasyon,” senatorial candidate Jopet Sison said.

“With the different companies we’ve met, they’d like na ma-incentivize lalo at suportahan ang kanilang industry: handicrafts, piggery, food so, if they can be supported whatever tax incentives or anong pwedeng maitulong kasi di ba affected sila ng pandemiya eh,” Samira Gutoc furthered.

Moreno also noted that these are not additional issues as they are added benefits. He said that the local government’s benefits will remain to give importance to the growth of the LGU.

When asked about the continuous increase of gas prices across the country, Moreno reiterated the lowering of tax on oil and electricity to 50% if elected to cushion the socio-economic impact of the pandemic.

“We want to be competitive in our neighboring countries to raise our foreign direct investments kasi napakamahal ng utilities natin. So itong mga ito ang unang dalawang gagawin namin,” said Moreno.

The Aksyon Demokratiko team paid a courtesy call to Governor Delta Pineda during their visit at the Pampanga Capitol.
