CLARK FREEPORT – “Our relations with Germany are important not just because our portfolio of cooperation spans a wide array of sectors, but because these partnerships and projects have proven to be successful and beneficial to our national development efforts.”
Thus, declared President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at the visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier where Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ multi-million-dollar investment in Clark International Airport was announced
Lufthansa Technik Philippines is expanding to the CRK with a new base maintenance facility — its second major hub in the country. Spanning some 157,000 square meters with capacity for up to nine widebody aircraft bays and expand into Boeing 787 maintenance, the multi-million-dollar MRO facility is expected to begin operations in 2028 and complement the company’s operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Both leaders recognized the project as a milestone in German-Philippine economic cooperation.
Eyed to generate around 1,200 highly skilled jobs for Filipinos, the project is also expected to support skills development, facilitate technology transfer, and attract complementary investments in aerospace, logistics, manufacturing, and related industries.

“This project is expected to generate quality employment opportunities, enhance local capabilities, promote technology transfer, and deepen the country’s participation in global aviation and supply chains,” said Finance Secretary Frederick Go, noting the project’s contribution to the growing international confidence in the Philippine economy and workforce.
Following the president’s announcement, Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp. president and CEO Noel F. Manankil welcomed Lufthansa Technik CEO Soeren Stark, chief human resources officer Dr. Janna Schumacher, and Lufthansa Technik Philippines president and CEO Holger Beck to the Clark International Airport for a site inspection for the company’s future base maintenance facility.
“This investment by Lufthansa Technik reflects the confidence global aviation leaders have in Clark International Airport and in the opportunities available in Central Luzon,” said Manankil. “The airport was designed to support growth, and developments such as this demonstrate Clark’s ability to accommodate world-class aviation operations. We are proud to support investments that create high-value jobs, encourage technology transfer, and contribute to the continued development of the Philippine aviation industry.” Punto News Team/PR
