TARLAC CITY (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has extended financial assistance to 2,500 students from the 2nd District of Tarlac through its Financial Assistance for Students program, helping learners continue their education while easing the financial burden on their families.
Under the program, each beneficiary received P4,000, which can be used to cover education-related expenses such as tuition fees, school supplies, transportation, and other academic needs.
For second-year college student Samantha Panguelo, the assistance will help lessen her family’s financial burden amid the rising cost of living.
“This assistance will help me as a student kasi po with the rising prices ng bilihin dito sa Pilipinas, malaking tulong po ito lalo na at nasa marginalized family po kami. With this assistance po, hindi ko na gaanong proproblemahin iyong ibang gastusin this semester (This assistance will help me as a student because of the rising cost of basic goods in the Philippines. It is a great help, especially since we belong to a marginalized family. With this assistance, I will no longer have to worry as much about my other expenses this semester),” she said.

Meanwhile, college student Mia Rose Manuel expressed her gratitude for the assistance, saying it would help cover the expenses required for her course.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa assistance na natanggap ko dahil malaking tulong po ito sa akin, lalo na at marami pong gastusin sa course ko (I am grateful for the assistance I received because it is a big help to me, especially since my course requires many expenses),” she shared.
Implemented in partnership with the Office of 2nd District Representative Cristy Angeles, the initiative forms part of the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program, which provides immediate support to individuals facing financial difficulties.
The educational assistance reflects the government’s continuing commitment under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to expand access to education and provide financial support to students from low-income families. (CLJD/AJRR, PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
