CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Pampanga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has approved P371.8 million for its 2027 Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRMF) to strengthen disaster preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery efforts in the province.
The LDRRMF is a mandatory allocation of at least 5% of the estimated revenue from regular sources for local government units under Section 21 of RA 10121 (Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010).
The fund was approved during the 3rd Quarter meeting of the PDRRMC presided by Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda with various national government agencies and local government units in attendance at the Kingsborough International Convention Center here on Sept. 29.
Among the specific programs covered are: animal health and management, installation of garbage interception floaters, and debris hauling and water-cleaning services under Disaster Prevention and Mitigation; acquisition of additional land for evacuation centers, construction and improvement ng DRRM facilities and flood-mitigation infrastructure, procurement of emergency response and rescue vehicles, heavy equipment, and generator sets, and provision for relief goods, food and non-food items, disaster medical supplies, and first-aid kits under Disaster Preparedness; emergency and core shelter assistance, food- and cash-for-work program, financial, medical and burial assistance, and other interventions to address immediate needs of families affected by calamities under Disaster Response and Early Recovery; and post-disaster interventions for rehabilitation and recovery of affected communities.
PDRRM Office chief Janica Yambao said the programs are anchored on “lessons learned from the recent spate of calamities induced by the enhanced southwest monsoon that hit the province.”
PDRRMC data show 408 barangays of 20 LGUs were flooded, affecting 375,093 families or 1,218,442 individuals; and losses in agriculture and aquaculture reaching P1.48 billion affecting 40,167 farmers and fisherfolk. Pampanga PIO/Photos: Daniel Ombina
