BALANGA CITY — Bataan on Wednesday logged 71 new confirmed cases for coronavirus disease, the second highest number of infections registered in a day this year, the provincial health office reported Thursday.
The number included 27 inmates that increased the number of affected persons deprived of liberty to 104 after 77 were infected Sunday. They were all placed in an isolation facility here.
With the big increase, the number of confirmed Covid–19 cases rose to 4,647 with 503 active ones.
Aside from 27 PDLs, the 44 new positive cases are nine from Balanga City, six each from Abucay and Hermosa, five from Mariveles, four each from Bagac and Orani, three each from Dinalupihan and Samal, two each from Limay and Pilar.
The number of deaths reached 114 after a 69-year–old man from Abucay became the latest fatality.
PHO reported that those who recovered totaled 4,030 with the addition of 24 new recoveries – seven from Balanga City, six from Samal, two each from Abucay, Dinalupihan, Limay, Mariveles and Orani and one in Bagac.
Among the new recoveries is a 21-day–old male from Samal.
PHO said that 7,707 medical frontliners have so far been vaccinated.
