ANGELES CITY – “She could see the hole made by a needle but not the damaged done by a bolo.”

Thus said Pinoy Gumising Ka Movement (PGKM) Chairman Ruperto “Perto” Cruz asserting that Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO) head Pie Angeles Flores had been biased in the removal of his anti-pollution streamers in front of his golf course in Barangay Cutcut here last August 20.

Cruz, who co-owns the Royal Golf and Country Club (RGCC),  said Flores had singled out his anti-pollution streamers “to protect the interest in the  poultries and piggeries of her bosses.” He was referring to the poultry of Cutcut Barangay Chairman Robin Nepomuceno near the RGCC. The Cutcut chief is the brother of Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno.

Flores earlier said that Cruz’s streamers violated city ordinances as they had no permits and were strung across the street. She added that the said streamers were not in ACTO’s master list of approved streamers.

Cruz challenged Flores to be ‘transparent’ following her disclosure that they have a master list of streamers with necessary permits.

“Ms. Flores should also show the public that list as well as the income derived from permits for the streamers,” said Cruz.

The PGKM chairman said Flores should “properly account the incomes and expenses of their office as they have to make significant projects beneficial to the people.”

Cruz sid he would bring “Flores to court and the office of the Ombudsman should the report of income be improper.”

Cruz assailed Flores for not making “enough programs to improve the tourism industry and generate economic growth.”

Worse, he added, Flores failed to protect multi-billion businesses in the city adversely affected by pollution and “even protects the polluters.”
