CHANEL MORALES on why she heeded her dad’s wish for her to join a beauty pageant: “I want my life to be something of purpose.”

Although Chanel Morales has been a fan of beauty competitions, she never thought about becoming a beauty queen herself.

But after giving it a hard thought, the Kapamilya actress then decided to try her luck in this year’s Miss World Philippines competition since she really wanted to do “something different from showbiz.”

The 5’4” candidate added, “Becoming a beauty queen is my dad’s dream for me.”

And true enough, her dad Royce Morales has been her cheerleader ever since she decided to finally give pageantry a try.

The Artista Academy alumna explained further why she decided to join Miss World Philippines.

She said, “I want my life to be something of purpose [and] I know that Miss World and its organization is actually doing a lot of things that help young girls create a change in our society.

“For me, a beauty queen is beyond just being beautiful, she should be sincere in what she does & true to what she believes in.”

Chanel focused more on the walk during her training with the Kagandahang Flores camp. She has also paid close attention to her health and fitness.

She said, “I eat less, run, and work out as much as I can.”

To help her prepare for the pageant, she sought tips from her beauty queen friends including Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann, Miss Multinational Philippines 2017 Sophia Senoron, Miss Eco International 2018 Cynthia Thomalla, and Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas Teresita “Wynwyn” Marquez.

The most helpful advice she got?

“To be yourself and to enjoy the competition!”

In the end, she said “I learned how to be more aware of the things that are happening everywhere around the world.

“That we beauty queens have actually a voice to change the betterment of our society. I also learned how to appreciate the beauty of our country-Philippines & the people striving for it to be a better place to live in.”

Miss World Philippines 2018 will crown its newest queens on October 7, 2018, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

WILL REGINE VELASQUEZ join The Voice PH when she transfers to ABS-CBN?

Regine Velasquez has not confirmed nor denied anything about leaving GMA-7, but there is strong buzz that she is, indeed, transferring to ABS-CBN.

Sources say that Regine’s alleged first project in her new network is a judging stint in The Voice of the Philippines.

As of this writing, Regine is still silent about the network transfer rumors.

Last Saturday, September 29, Regine attended the ABSCBN Ball Event, intensifying rumors that she will be a Kapamilya soon.

However, in the final show of GMA-7’s The Clash last September 30, she was heard saying, “See you guys next year!”

It was in January 2016 when Regine last signed a contract with the Kapuso network.

Present during her contract signing back then were the bosses of GMA-7: Atty. Felipe L. Gozon (Chairman and CEO), Lilybeth Rasonable (SVP for Entertainment TV), Marivin Arayata (VP for Entertainment TV), Redgie Magno (VP for Drama), Darling de Jesus (AVP for Entertainment TV), Cheryl Ching-Sy (AVP for Drama), and Gigi Lara-Santiago (GMA Artist Center head).

During her 2016 contract renewal, Regine said back then, “I wanna say, since the bosses are all here, thank you.

“And I’m very grateful to all my bosses because I was given enough time to be with my son, I’m really happy about that.”
