LUBAO, Pampanga- Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda appealed to fellow Kapampangans to unite, help and support the government in combating the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) not only in the province but also in the entire region.

“Magtulungan tayong  lahat. Alagaan mo sarili mo. Alagaan mo ang pamilya mo. ‘Wag dapat magdepend parati sa national, provincial, municipal, at mga barangay officials,” the vice governor said in vernacular.

In an interview, the vice governor underscored the need to respond for the government’s call for help.

“Mahalin mo kapwa Pilipino mo. Kung alam mong may symptoms ka, ‘wag ka nang gagala pa. Kung lalabas ka ng walang mask, hindi mo tinutulungan ang kapwa Pilipino mo, hindi mo tinutulungan ang gobyerno mo, lalo mo lang pinapalala ang sitwasyon,“ she said.

With the resiliency of the Kapampangans, she is optimistic that Pampanga and its people could recover from the effects brought by the pandemic.

“Tiwala ako na ang mga Kapampangan ay malalakas ang loob. Kahit daanan man ‘yan ng matinding bagyo, baha, earthquake, at pagputok ng bulkan, makaka bangon iyan,” she said.

According to her, it’s about time to ‘move-on’ and ‘bounce-back’ from the recession of the pandemic during the first two quarters of the year.

“Unti-unti kailangan na natin mag-move on. Buksan ang lahat ng dapat buksan para makapagtrabaho ang mga Kapampangan at hindi magutom,“ she added.

Vice Governor Pineda also disclosed that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will do their part to help Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda in formulating the COVID-19 recovery and rehabilitation plan to gear up for a return to a new normal. — Luisse Rutao/Pampanga PIO
