ANGELES CITY – Alberto D. Pamintuan III, son of mayoralty candidate Edgardo “EdPam” Pamintuan, passed the 2009 Bar examinations.

“First thing I thought was to tell my dad immediately, wanted to do him proud,” said Atty. Beto as popularly called by friends. The 25 year old lawyer was interviewed by Punto using Facebook on Friday night.

The “good news” was announced by EdPam during the opening salvo of the Team Agyu Tamu at the Plaza Miranda here.

At least 1,451 out of the 5,903 examinees from 108 law schools in the country passed the exams. The number of passers represents 24.58 percent of the total examinees.

Atty. Beto, a graduate from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law, said his father’s motto “which he never failed to repeat over and over again was: “Read, read and read”.

“So that’s what I did in law school,” he said.

Asked what are his future plans, he admitted that he also wants to serve the Angeleños just like his father. “But for now I still have to help with my dad’s campaign.”

After the elections, Atty. Beto is planning to apply at the Solicitor General’s office, like what his father did.

Born on February 17, 1985 (basketball legend Michael Jordan’s birthday), Atty. Beto is the middle child of couple EdPam and Herminia.

His older brother Edu is running for councilor under their father’s ticket while sibling Fidel is also helping in the campaign.

For his part, EdPam said his son’s achievement is already a sign of victory.
