Leading health, wellness, and beauty retailer Watsons Philippines continues to champion accessible healthcare through meaningful partnerships that empower Filipinos to take charge of their health.

With diabetes remaining one of the country’s most pressing health concerns, affecting millions of Filipinos and often going undetected until serious complications arise, the need for accessible screening, education, and early intervention has never been more critical. Recognizing this challenge, Watsons has been working alongside Diabetes Philippines Inc. to bring preventive healthcare closer to communities nationwide.

Since the partnership began, they have worked together to bridge healthcare gaps through education, awareness, and community-based health services. Anchored in their shared goal of preventing and managing diabetes, the collaboration has grown into a comprehensive program that combines screening, patient education, and professional healthcare support.

A key milestone of the partnership was the launch of the Diabetes Educator Program, which equipped Watsons pharmacists with specialized training to provide patients with reliable information and support on diabetes prevention and management. Building on this initiative, Watsons and Diabetes Philippines expanded their efforts through the STOP Diabetes Program, which offers free diabetes screening, health assessments, and consultations at selected Watsons stores nationwide. By bringing these services closer to communities, the program helps individuals identify potential health risks early and take informed steps toward better health before complications arise.

The program’s impact continues to grow. From April to May 2026 alone, nearly 5,000 individuals were screened for diabetes, hypertension, and overweight or obesity through the initiative. Alarmingly, nearly 70% of those screened had at least one health risk factor or condition, underscoring the critical need for accessible health screening and preventive care programs to support early detection and timely intervention.

“Through our partnership with Diabetes Philippines, we have been able to bring free clinic services closer to communities, making diabetes screening, medical consultations, and health support more accessible to Filipinos. At Watsons, we believe healthcare should be convenient and accessible for everyone, and this collaboration is helping turn that vision into reality by empowering more people to take proactive steps toward better health. We are proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to expanding our impact in more communities across the country,” said Danilo Chiong, Managing Director of  Watsons Philippines.

“This collaboration has helped expand access to screening, education, and preventive healthcare services, enabling more Filipinos to take proactive steps toward better health. We are grateful to Watsons Philippines, our healthcare workers, volunteers, and Diabetes Philippines chapters for their unwavering support. Together, we remain committed to stopping diabetes before it starts and building healthier communities nationwide.”, added Dr. Fatma Tiu, President of Diabetes Philippines, Inc.

Dr. Fatma Tiu, President of Diabetes Philippines Inc., expresses gratitude to Watsons Philippines, healthcare workers, volunteers, and Diabetes Philippines chapters for their continued support in expanding access to diabetes screening, health education, and preventive care for communities nationwide.

Watsons was recently recognized by Diabetes Philippines Inc. for its valuable partnership and steadfast support of the STOP (Screen, Treat, Optimize, Promote) Diabetes Program.

Looking ahead, Watsons Philippines will continue to strengthen its partnership with Diabetes Philippines to expand access to preventive healthcare services in more communities nationwide. With the success of their initiatives, Watsons aims to reach more Filipinos so they can make informed health decisions and take action before health risks develop into more serious conditions.
