MABALACAT, Pampanga – A doctor-hospital owner will run for mayor next year, on the platform of improved health care for this town.
Dr. Victor Tiglao, owner of the Tiglao Hospital in Barangay San Joaquin, said he will join the mayoralty race in 2010 “because people desperately want change for the benefit of the majority.”
Tiglao said he will prioritize the improvement of public hospitals, including the Mabalacat District Hospital in Barangay Mabiga.
“They don’t have simple equipment needed by patients at the district hospital after all this time. How can they serve them properly?” said Tiglao, who lost in the vice mayoralty race in 2007.
The 64-year-old gynecologist disclosed that Filipino-Chinese Businessman Anthony Dee will be his vice mayoralty candidate under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
“I and Mr. Dee have spoken four times already and he will definitely be my vice mayor,” said Tiglao in the dialect. He debunked rumors circulating around that Dee had changed his plans and will join the mayoralty race anew.
Dee however has not made any public confirmation of Tiglao’s statements.
Morales defeated Dee in the last three elections for mayor.
Tiglao said three incumbent councilors – Christian Halili, Ed Sotto and Benny Jocson – will run under his party.
