CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The spirit of giving is very much alive among the workers of SM Supermalls and Savemore in Pampanga.
Scarlet Pagdanganan, public relations head of SM City San Fernando Downtown, said on Wednesday that employees of the three SM malls in Pampanga and Savemore in Apalit volunteered to share their blessings with physically challenged children and those nearly abandoned by their family just before the celebration of New Year’s Day.
The SM workers decided to act on their own to give happiness and care to 29 special children with different special needs, 12 of whom are stay-in, at the Holy Trinity Special Education Foundation Inc. in Manibaug, Porac, Pampanga.
Holy Trinity is an institution run by two Dominican nuns who tend to physically challenged children and those who had been nearly given up by their families.
The workers of SM Supermalls in North Luzon — SM City Pampanga, SM City Clark, SM City San Fernando Downtown and SM Savemore Apalit – were led by Pagdanganan (San Fernando Downtown), Rain Cervantes (Pampanga) and Venus Manalang (Clark).
“It was our Christian duty to share our blessings with the children in the season of giving. It felt good, very good,” they said. At least 29 employees who were not on duty December 29 delivered on behalf of the SM workers the used clothes, toys, goodies and cash to the institution.
“This is the simplest way of giving huge smiles to these kids that are mostly with special needs and attention.
In this momentous activity, employees of SM Supermalls intend to make a life by what they give just to share all the blessing they receive all year round. The spirit of giving and loving rise along their ways to give “KriSMiles” to these innocent children,” they said in a statement.
In gratitude, the children from the Holy Trinity shared their talents through song numbers and dances to the delight of the SM employees.
