CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Proudly crafted in Pampanga. That sums up the My City, My SM, My Crafts event during the weekend at SM City Pampanga showcasing the best handicrafts, furniture, accessories and décor,
    especially those with Christmas themes.

“Truly an expression of the cultural passion of the Kapampangans and their ingenuity which we are all proud of,” said City of San Fernando Vice-Mayor Jimmy Lazatin in his message at the joint undertaking of SM, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Philippine Star with the support from the Center for International Trade, Expositions and Missions and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

A highlight of the My City, My SM, My Crafts was the first screening of the Kapampangan indie film “Dukit,” a proto- biopic of foremost sculptor Willy Layug of Betis who is a national awardee for ecclesiastical art.

Produced by Cannes winner Brillante Ma. Mendoza and directed by Armando Lao, the film starred Layug as himself. “We cannot have any other actor to portray Willy than himself, as only he can do the sculpting which is the very essence of the film,” Lao said.

Both Mendoza and Layug were given plaques of recognition by SM officials led by Vice President for Marketing Communication Millie Dizon. “We are very proud to take part in the promotion of Kapampangan art and crafts.

SM will continue to support local artists and craftsmen in their quest for excellence,” said SM City Pampanga Mall Manager Junias Eusebio. My City, My SM, My Crafts is the latest in a series of promotion campaigns initiated by the SM malls.

The first, My City, My SM highlighted the tourism potentials of areas where SM malls were located. The second, My City, My SM, My Cuisine showcased the culinary specialties.
