CLARK FREEPORT – “Unification needed to push for development in the province.”

This was the message of Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industries Inc. (PamCham) President Rene Romero yesterday as the business sector expressed confidence on the leadership and governance of incoming Gov. Lilia “Baby” Pineda  and her vice governor, Joseller “Yeng” Guiao.

The two were the guests of honor at the general membership meeting and induction of new members of PamCham at the Holiday Inn Clark.

Romero urged Pineda to create a body which will draw the master plan for the economic development in the province. He added that “Pineda will be a better and different leader.”

“Priming countryside business is PamCham’s mission and we take this very seriously. We promote economic development simply because it is the lifeblood of business. A vibrant and developed economy indicates flourishing industries which signifies relatively high employment rate,” said Romero in his speech.

He stressed that investors will be interested in putting up businesses in a province where local government units (LGUs) are in a “harmonious relationship with traders.”

“We hope to maintain a consultative relationship with our partners (LGUs) and be assured that our lines of communication will remain open. We shall commend excellent and efficient administration, and in the same breath shall not hesitate to criticize and censure actions countering what we have now declared and defined as good and effective governance,” added Romero.

For his part, PamCham chairman Levy Laus said “visions need actions.” He also expressed confidence in the leadership of Pineda and Guiao.
