The 30-year old Diaz won the women’s 55kg weightlifting competition at the Tokyo Olympics beating world-record holder Liao Quiyun of China and Zulfiya Chinshanlo of Kazakhstan on Monday.

Diaz has already brought honors to the country in the past by winning silver in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; bronze medal in the bronze medal in the 2015 World Weightlifting Championships; and 3rd place in the 2019 World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.
