ORANI, Bataan – Mayor Jon Arizapa has issued an executive order cancelling the celebration of the town’s foundation day on April 17 which is annually marked with festivities like street dancing during the Alimango Festival the town is known for.

In light of the current national situation, upon the advice of the national government, and pursuant to Executive Order No. 32, Arizapa said the local government instead chose to prioritize the welfare of the people and ensure that public resources are used where they are most needed.

“In place of the celebration, the funds will instead be used by the LGU, in coordination with our partners and stakeholders, to provide subsidy assistance to tricycle operators and drivers association members and other affected transport sectors,” the mayor said.

“Funds will also be used to distribute school supplies, bags, and tumblers to all students in both public and private schools, in the hope of easing the added burden that many families may face during this crisis as they prepare for the coming school year,” he added.

Orani Foundation Day is celebrated every April 17 after it was declared as a non-working holiday in 2018 under RA 11145.
