Tugade makes inaugural message to CDC staff.
CLARK FREEPORT – Terse is the first order of the newly installed president and chief executive officer of the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) to the firm’s CDC officials and 791 employees: Avoid accepting gifts from any of the locators at Clark.
CDC President and CEO Arthur P. Tugade, in his message at the flag-raising ceremony on Wednesday, issued the order in line with the ‘Matuwid na Daan” slogan of President Aquino.
Tugade, a native of Candelaria town in Quezon, stressed that “accepting gift in any form” is prohibited during his watch.
Tugade also told the officials and employees of the state-owned firm that they should “smile” while at work and in entertaining visitors, investors and government officials.
Tugade said smiling helps improve the quality of service at the CDC, primarily benefitting the locators.
He said “the life and blood of CDC are the investors and our task is to assist them by providing our utmost services with a smile.”
The 599 Clark locators had generated 70,272 workers as of November, said Noel Tulabut of the CDC public relations department.
Tugade also stressed the importance of punctuality, saying ‘time is precious especially in the nature of work at CDC.”
Tugade, before joining CDC, owned several shipping and brokerage firms which is being run and managed by the firm he established: The Perry’s Group of Companies.
Aquino reportedly convinced Tugade to accept the CDC top post after refusing to accept several offers to join the government. Tugade was chosen by Aquino to add more substance to his call for good governance.
