MANILA — The Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Department of Public Works and Highways recently signed records of discussion for three new Technical Cooperation Projects (TCPs), namely: The Project for Capacity Development of Road Structures and Large-Scale Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation; The Project for Strengthening Urban Drainage Management Capacity in the Philippines; and The Project for Capacity Building for Comprehensive Development and Management of Road Tunneling Projects in the Philippines

These projects will strengthen DPWH’s institutional and technical capacities in the lifecycle management of roads, tunnels, bridges, and urban drainages through sharing of Japanese technical expertise, strengthened coordination, and trainings. Once TCP-shared expertise and outputs are applied later in actual construction, Filipinos can expect a more secure travel along EDSA, reduced flood risk in Buendia-Maricaban area, and improved connectivity through road tunnel networks.

By investing in people, JICA and DPWH seek to ensure that the benefits of cooperation extend beyond individual projects and contribute to resilient public infrastructures and better services for Filipinos. JICA Philippine Office
