CABANATUAN CITY – The Wesleyan University -Philippines (WU-P), one of the largest academic institutions here, condemned the murder of its female scholar right inside her residence in Barangay Sto. Cristo, San Antonio, Nueva Ecija on Sunday.

“We condemn this heinous and unspeakable act in the strongest possible terms. Violence against any member of our community is an outrage to our shared humanity, and we grieve deeply for a bright future cut short so cruelly,” the WU-P said in a statement issued Monday.

The victim was identified as Ann Pauline Fajardo, 21, fourth year nursing student and recipient of the university’s scholarship program.

The investigation showed a 21-year-old male relative, a student, told the police that he found the victim lifeless in alleged case of suicide at around 10:30 am Sunday.

“Upon arrival, the responding officers found the victim already lifeless, with the blanket still tied around her neck,” police reported. Her mobile phone, a P66,990-worth iPhone Plus was missing.
The phone, through its tracking feature, was later found to be in possession of another relative, police said.
Later, the suspect admitted to the killing after she allegedly refused to lend her P5,000 at around 4:30 that morning.

WU-P described Fajardo as “a dedicated student, a cherished friend, and a promising future nurse whose passion, hard work, and kindness touched everyone around her” as the school, particularly the College of Nursing, expressed shock and mourning over the tragic incident.
