BACOLOR, Pampanga – Computerization of Real Property Tax (RPT) collection and the rehabilitation of this town from the wrath of the 1991 Mount Pinatubo Eruption.
These are some of the priorities of mayoralty aspirant Jomar Hizon if given the chance to serve the people of this town.
“Through computerization, we will be able to collect more RPT and this will be extended even to resettlement areas,” Hizon told journalists during the 73rd birthday celebration of his mother, Lolita Hizon, owner of Pampanga’s Best. The affair was attended by Pampanga gubernatorial bet Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda, Vice Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao, and other local chief executives.
Jomar also said residents here who live from far flung barangays will no longer have to travel to the municipal hall just to pay their RPTs.
Asked how he defines good governance, Jomar said “it’s not all about being a good leader but a competent, capable and responsible one.
He said good governance is all about having the knowledge on how to use the resources of the government properly and effectively.
“Even if you have a lot of money [public funds] but if you do not know how to use them, that’s not good governance,” Jomar said.
He also vouched for his credentials as a businessman who could manage well the affairs of the municipal government. “In business, you have to invest just like in politics.”
Noting that the rehabilitation of this town is needed, Jomar however said the support of the national government is crucial.
“If the next president will not support the rehabilitation of Bacolor, I think we cannot do anything,” he added.
