You better watch out, you better not cry
Or maybe you should, I’m telling you why
“Sinful” Co is coming to town
He’s making a list,checking it twice
Gotta be sure who’s naughty or wise
“ Sinful” Co is coming to town
He dreams of you when he’s sleeping
He knows where to escape
He knows when you’re been good and twice as bad
To be good or bad means lots of cash
Oh, better not cry or maybe you should
Better hide now I’m telling you why
“Sinful” Co is coming to town
President Bong Bong Marcos is a lucky guy. Former congressman Zaldy Co is now in his hands, or will be in a week or three from now. What he will do against him need not unduly worry the nation. A former journalist said the son of a former dictator lacks the killer instinct.
In other words, PBBM will deal with the famous or notorious lawmaker con thief as a peaceable man. The comparison with the vice president is inescapable. Recall that a few months ago, many felt that he could end up with a slit throat, courtesy of the second highest official of the land who showed it before nation-wide television. Which somehow proved the point that she has what the highest official of the land doesn’t have.
Unfortunately, this is one of the issues against the vice president in the impeachment process that the House of Representatives where Co used to have free- rein dominion and apparent sovereignty. It seems he has arrived at a cul de sac, not in sacks or maletas of dizzying cash
he allegedly generously distributed to government officials, including PBBM.
Never mind that the other of the famous brothers in government, almost caught up with another wanted man , Atong Ang, but sorry the police were a little late. Maybe they will be luckier next time. Never mind that the implacable Senator Ping Lacson thought Co didn’t fall because of PBBM’s or his men’s genius. Co fell to German border patrols because he wasn’t as smart , notwithstanding the unbelievable tale of corruption he left months ago. He just ran out of luck.
But in basketball, a win is a win even if the other won by one point because of a player’s clumsiness. It happens when you’re on the , run and press for time and missed that simple lay up. So sorry. Coach Yeng Guiao would have been rabid if his team was the unlucky one. Yeng has a killer instinct, given his record wins, plus or minus the profanities in the PBA.
Pending Co’s arrival, everything is pure and wild speculation. Senator Ping wants to have the first shot at Co in the Senate. Not so fast. The rule is, finder’s keeper first. After all, it’s PBBM who has instructed the Department of justice and the Department of Foreign Affairs to bring him home pronto.
First off, the DOJ must work on Co’s affidavits. There should b e volumes. PBMM and the DOJ, in that order, must know, through his affidavits where the sliced enchiladas were farmed out in his initial taped declaration on TV. Expect a new version when he comes.
Co should also give the nation a working idea how the department of Public Works and Highways morphed into a cocoon of a profitable cafeteria for corrupt legislators, engineers, contractors and what- have- you. PBBM must be disabused thethat the chrysalis of corruption did not begin in his time. Cronyism was flagrant ad infinitum during the dictator’s regime. In fairness, the late Senator Miriam was convinced that corruption nest flew from somewhere else’ cuckoo that rhymes with Co beyond the West Philippine Sea.
Certainly, Co’s coming to town will be a great game changer. On his word, the political fates of either PBBM or his vice president hangs in the balance. How much is truth or lie in what he will drive their future north or south in a big way. It’s geography, too.
It will also confirm if Ombudsman Jesus Remulla meant business when he bared that malversation cases were being prepared by his
is agency against former House Speaker Martin Rnomualdez and former Senate President Chiz Escudero.
Co’s final testimony will be the lynch pin. Remulla can be the epitome of a rational being or a flawed one. The context is important. The former speaker is PBBM’s first cousin and a potential candidate in 2028. Politics is also much thicker than wine in the Philippines. The former Senate head was once seen giving up his glass to the First Lady in one occasion at the Palace. Context could also be a pretext.
In other words, Co’s coming will be a schadenfreude for either of the two partisan political groups . Co didn’t have the chance to enjoy the German pleasure because the border patrols had no pastillas like our immigration. The local dilawans are lucky being on the sideline watching politics as a spectator’s sports with glee.
