CABANATUAN CITY – An alleged gun trafficker was killed in an encounter with police operatives in Barangay Imelda here at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Nueva Ecija police director Col. Marvin Joe Saro identified the suspect as Joselito Jose, an electrician from the said village.
Saro said operatives of the city police station purchased from the suspect one .32 pistol using three marked bills.
While the transaction was in progress, Jose apparently sensed he was dealing with a policeman, Saro said.
The suspect fired a handgun toward a police corporal who was “hit and was fortunately not wounded” because of a bulletproof vest, police said.
“The troops returned fire hitting the suspect fatally. He was immediately brought to Cabanatuan City Hospital for medical treatment, but was pronounced dead on arrival,” police also reported.
Forensic investigators recovered from the scene of encounter the .32 pistol without serial number and the suspect’s supposed firearm, a .45 pistol.
