MARIVELES, Bataan — The fishermen who turned over to the police P1.5-billion worth of illegal drugs discovered floating off the West Philippine Sea were rewarded with sacks of rice by the Police Regional Office 3 on June 7.

PRO3 director BGen. Jean Fajardo gave the rice to the fishermen as a gesture of appreciation and recognition for their honesty and civic responsibility for voluntary turning over 10 sacks of suspected shabu.

“This kind of citizen initiative is what strengthens our campaign against illegal drugs. The fishermen’s integrity and cooperation with our police force reflect the highest ideals of community partnership and responsible citizenship,” enthused Fajardo.

The fishermen discovered the packages of illegal drugs floating at sea and immediately reported the suspicious items to authorities.
Lt. Col. Dennis Orbista, Mariveles police chief, handed over the rice assistance to fishermen in Barangay Sisiman.
