CLARK FREEPORT – Hann Foundation Inc. has signed a memorandum of agreement with the city government for the implementation of initiatives that will further strengthen the city’s tourism program and enhance facilities for minors under the care of the LGU.

Under the MOA, HFI, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social development arm of the Hann Group will donate an electric jeepney to support and boost the city’s growing heritage tour and other tourism-related travel packages.

The e-jeepney is expected to provide a more sustainable and accessible way for visitors to experience the city’s rich cultural heritage, local cuisine, traditions, and other tourism destinations.

The partnership also includes the improvement of the Home for the Girls under the city social welfare and development office, complementing the vision of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II to establish a comprehensive and holistic program for minors who need attention, protection, and care.

The MOA was signed during the Discuss WidUs forum of the Central Luzon Media Association-Pampanga Chapter on Aug. 20 by HFI executive director Ana Christi Galura, corporate finance director Sheila Rivera, and city information officer Jose Aubrey “Jay” Pelayo IV, representing Mayor Lazatin.

Witnessing the signing were Louie Lazatin of Angeles City Tourism Office, city social welfare and development officer Francis de Guzman, and CLMA-Pampanga officers and members headed by president Mark Allen Sison.

In her message, Galura said HFI continues to support the programs and initiatives of the Angeles City Government because of the local government’s ability to sustain and further develop projects that have been turned over to the city.

Among these is the Culinarium, which was established by Hann and is now being properly utilized by the ACTO as part of the city’s Heritage Tour program.

Pelayo, meanwhile, expressed the city’s gratitude to HFI for its continued support and commitment to the development of Angeles City.

“These new donations are very timely and will further complement Mayor Jon Lazatin’s vision of strengthening our city’s rich cultural heritage, local culinary traditions, and tourism identity,” Pelayo said.

He noted that during Mayor Lazatin’s State of the City Address, the mayor announced plans to provide tourism-related training opportunities for senior citizens, including tour guide training.

The e-jeepney is expected to support this initiative, while the city also plans to extend similar opportunities to solo parents and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Local visual artists are likewise expected to participate in designing the e-jeepney once this is officially turned over, giving the vehicle a distinct Angeles City identity and showcasing the creativity and talent of local artists.

The CIO also underscored the significance of the planned improvements to the Home for the Girls, saying these come at a crucial time as the country continues to face some challenges involving minors who require government intervention and protection.

“Mayor Jon has always wanted to establish a comprehensive program for children who are placed under the care of the government. He wants them to receive a holistic approach to care and development so they can be better prepared once they are ready to reintegrate into society,” Pelayo added.
