CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The once coronavirus disease-free town of Arayat, Pampanga has registered its fist confirmed case of Covid-19.
An official statement issued Saturday morning from the municipal health office jointly signed by Mayor Emmanuel “Bon” Alejandrino and MHO Dr. Paulino L. Austria said their first case, dubbed Patient 1, is a frontliner from Barangay San Antonio and working at the Bureau of Quarantine-Clark.
The patient had travel history to the National Capital Region bringing specimen from tests of the locally stranded individuals and overseas Filipino workers in quarantine at Clark. He was subjected to RT-PCR swab testing last June 27 and, as of posting time, asymptomatic and currently under quarantine in one of the hotels in Clark, the statement said.
“Samakatuwid, WALA po tayong LOCAL TRANSMISSION sa bayan ng Arayat,” the statementemphasized.
Contract tracing by the MHO is ongoing, even as rapid test conducted on the relatives of the patient have all yielded negative results, it added.
This, even as it reminded the townsfolk of the need for cooperation and compliance with the “minimum health standards” of wearing face masks, physical distancing and frequent hand washing to be safe from Covid-19.
