CLARK FREEPORT— The Scholarship Collaboration for Workers Engaging in Learning Advancement (SCWELA) Program is empowering 25 Clark Development Corp. employees with essential skills to meet evolving workplace demands.

Classes began on Jan. 9 at the Administration and Finance Group conference room, marking a step forward in their career advancement.

In her message, CDC president and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera urged the scholars to maximize this opportunity, emphasizing its potential for personal and professional growth.

“I value this program. Maybe more than you will value it. Because I know in my experience, all those who decide to enroll and study even after starting their career, it speaks differently of the person. They want to improve. They want to grow,” she said.

The employees are enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship program, which is offered in partnership with the City College of Angeles (CCA).

Launched to support regular employees who did not complete their tertiary education, the SCWELA Program provides opportunities for career advancement through higher education. Flexible class schedules help scholars balance academic commitments with work responsibilities.

CCA president Dr. Francisco Villanueva, Jr. expressed his full support for CDC, commending the state-owned firm’s initiative on developing its human capital.

“I congratulate CDC for this initiative. This shows how CDC recognizes that its biggest assets are the people here.”

“You chose to upgrade yourself, retool yourself. And that is the way of the future now,” he added.

On Dec. 10, 2024, CCA’s Institute of Business and Management dean Amor Barba and its registrars conducted the enrollment process at the CDC Human Resources Division office. This followed the signing of a memorandum of agreement between CDC and CCA on Nov. 19, 2024, formalizing this partnership. CDC-PR
