CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Mayor Oscar “Oca” S. Rodriguez has denied any involvement in the alleged death threat made against Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales (Pampanga 3rd district) over the weekend.

Rodriguez said if the death threat against Gonzales is true, then it could be the handiwork of people that the congressman had crossed especially those he cheated with money.

“Pota nung tutu man yang threat a yan, karetang dakal a mua kaya na pigloku na kareng pera (If that threat is really true, then it could have come from people he had cheated of their money),” said Rodriguez.

The mayor said Gonzales could just be making up the story or maybe the people behind his alleged death threat could be his own people. “Eku balu nung tutu ita, pota galang ila-ila mung gagawang multo (I don’t know if that is true, maybe they’re just the one making up the ghost stories).”

He added, “from my end, imposible kung gawan ita. It’s not in my character. Kadua, alang kadahi-dahilan (It’s impossible for me to do that… Secondly, there’s no reason for it).”

Earlier, Rodriguez declined to make a comment on the alleged death threat his political rival received over the weekend except to say that he did not need to threaten anybody to win the elections.

Reporters covering the EDSA commemoration at the city hall on Monday said Rodriguez also said he was not feeling well and went home immediately after the event.

On Monday, Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales called a press conference and revealed threats to his life. Gonzales said last Saturday, his former close-in security aide SPO2 Angel Pesayco noticed a brown envelope inserted in the gate of his house in St. Jude Village and when he opened it, he found a white sheet of paper with “Dong” written in big, bold black letters and five live bullets for M-16 rifles.

Gonzales said he is taking the incident as “a serious threat not only to me but also to my leaders and supporters.” He said politics is behind the motive to terrorize him but said he is unfazed and vowed to increase his campaigning “500 percent” more.

Gonzales said he now has only two security aides from the Police Security Protection Group.

Gonzales is seeking re-election to his final term against Rodriguez.
