MABALACAT – Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales and barangay officials here vowed to fully support the gubernatorial bid of former senior board member Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda in the May 2010 elections.

In a meeting at the Xevera-Mabalacat on Friday, barangay officials interviewed by Punto said that Pineda is the candidate who could effectively govern the affairs of the capitol.

“Our governor, Nanay Baby knows what true good governance is all about,” a group of elders said.

Pineda was the guest of honor in the event attended by Board Member Cris Garbo, Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, and other town councilors.

“Dito na tayo sa tunay na maaasahan lalo na sa panahon ng kagipitan,” Morales told hundreds of barangay officials and residents. He added that Pineda was the real winner in the 2007 elections.

The 2nd division of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) earlier disclosed that based on its recount, Pineda won over Gov. Eddie Panlilio with a difference of 2,011 votes.

For her part, Pineda vowed to focus on helping the sick and improving district hospitals in the province.

Citing the need for more funds for the sick, she also vowed to finance their medical expenses saying “public coffers may not be enough to cover everything.”

“Nakakasigurado po kayo na hindi masasalaula ang kaban ng bayan dahil dadagdagan pa po natin ito kung kinakailangan,” said Pineda, referring to the P1.6-billion funds at the capitol which Panlilio reportedly failed to use for possible projects and programs for the poor in Pampanga.

Pineda also assured her cabalens that every centavo of public funds will be used properly.

She also told attendees to support the candidacy of Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro, standard bearer of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD.
