CITY of SAN FERNANDO — Pampanga’s triumvirate business chambers joined together for the first and historic Tri-Chamber General Membership Meeting at the Laus Event Center here Thursday.

United for economic growth, the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Inc. (PamCham), Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (MACCII), and the Clark Investors and Locators Association (CILA) vowed to come up with one voice to pursue rapid development in the region.

PamCham president Rene Romero led the tri-chamber meeting Balinwith MACCII president Myra Rivera and CILA chair Dr. Irineo “Bong” Alvaro.

Guest of honor Dr. Cielito Habito, former socio-economic planning secretary and former director general of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), delivered the keynote address.

According Romero, the historic event was conceptualized after a successful joint board meeting where the chambers were able to “explore common advocacies that requires the compelling points of all three business chambers.”

Romero also noted that the three chambers assembled “to make the voice of the business community louder, the local economy of the province stronger, and the organizations a better partner for Pampanga’s inevitable success.”

Habito discussed the current economic growth, the economic age of disruption and the imperatives to regain momentum as well as economic threats amidst the golden age of infrastructure.

He also discussed the trends, opportunities, and threats the Philippine economy has.

Habito said the business chambers in Pampanga should “put pressure” on local leaders to provide the kind of environment that is needed to fully utilize its potential.

Gov. Dennis G. Pineda said he was present to show his support for the business sector and for the development of economic growth in Pampanga.

Prior to this, Romero said, PamCham already signed a sisterhood agreement with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) in Quezon City that aims to give each chamber an opportunity to enhance their respective organizations.
