DIPACULAO, Aurora (PIA) – The 3.75-kilometer Salay-Kadayakan Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) improvement project is expected to enhance rural connectivity and support agricultural development in Aurora by providing faster, safer, and more reliable access to markets, trading centers, and essential services once completed.
According to the Department of Agriculture (DA) Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Central Luzon, the project has reached 66.41 percent physical accomplishment.
Representatives from the DA-PRDP North Luzon Project Support Office, Central Luzon Regional Project Coordination Office, and the Aurora Provincial Project Management and Implementation Unit validated the reported progress during a joint inspection on July 21.
Ongoing construction includes Portland Cement Concrete Pavement pouring, slope protection works, subgrade preparation, subbase compaction, and box culvert assembly, which DA-PRDP Central Luzon described as key components to ensure the road’s durability and resilience.
The agency said the ₱93-million road improvement subproject will establish an important inter-town connection between Barangay Salay in Dipaculao and Barangay Kadayakan in Maria Aurora.
It will directly serve an area of 581 hectares, including 546 hectares of agricultural land devoted primarily to coconut and rice production.
Upon completion, the project will benefit nearly 400 households across five barangays, including 95 farming households, through lower transportation costs, reduced post-harvest losses, and greater economic opportunities for local communities.
The FMR improvement project supports the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s efforts to strengthen rural infrastructure, enhance agricultural productivity, and improve local livelihoods. (CLJD/MAECR, PIA Region 3-Aurora)
