Aboitiz Renewables, Inc., the renewable energy arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower), through its Olongapo Solar Power Plant, turned over 100 utility posts worth an estimated ₱2 million to the City of Olongapo, to be installed across the Central Business District (CBD) and fitted with solar lights by the local government.

The Central Business District is one of Olongapo City’s busiest commercial areas, drawing residents, vendors, and commuters throughout the day. But heavy rains — a near-constant feature of the city’s weather — leave many of its streets dim and difficult to navigate after dark, worsening visibility for pedestrians and motorists alike. The utility posts, once installed and fitted with solar lights by the city government, will help address this gap, providing the district with a more reliable source of lighting regardless of weather conditions.

Sharron Manzano, Stakeholder Relations and Permitting Manager at Aboitiz Renewables, said the donation reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to work with the local government to improve safety in the community.

“We continuously work with Olongapo City to help make its streets safer, especially in high-traffic areas like the CBD,” Manzano said. “Something as simple as a well-lit street can make a real difference, especially during heavy rains, and we’re glad to support the city in providing that.”

The utility posts were turned over to Olongapo City Mayor Atty. Rolen C. Paulino, Jr., with the city government set to install the posts and fit them with solar lights across the Central Business District.
