MARIA AURORA, Aurora (PIA) — About 1,604 residents of Maria Aurora town in the province of Aurora benefitted from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
It serves as the social safety net or a stop-gap mechanism to support the recovery of individuals and families from unexpected crises such as illness or death of a family member and other crisis situations.
DSWD Provincial Team Leader Margie Nortez said beneficiaries include single parents, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and tricycle drivers.
“Each recipient got P2,000 as medical assistance, burial, transportation, education, food, or financial aid for other support services or requirements of a person or family,” she added.
In his message during the payout, Aurora Lone District Representative Rommel Angara said AICS will continue to provide assistance to residents, particularly single parents and PWDs.
He also urged others to come to the municipal hall and register in order to be eligible for such financial assistance.
DSWD earlier disclosed that it has distributed a total of P14.5 million worth of financial assistance to about 7,268 beneficiaries in the municipalities of Baler, Casiguran, Dingalan, Dinalungan, Dilasag, and Maria Aurora.
The agency also conducted a payout in the towns of Dipaculao and San Luis over the weekend. (CLJD/MAT-PIA 3)
