SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — The Social Security System-Olongapo City branch office issued show cause order on May 18, against 10 delinquent employers inside this freeport in line with the agency’s Run Against Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign in the city.
The RACE campaign aims to raise awareness on the employers’ obligations to pay their member-employees’ mandatory premium contributions to the SSS.
The team headed by Gloria Corazon Andrada, vice president of the SSS Luzon Central 2 Division, and Atty. Vic Byron Fernandez, head of SSS Central Luzon Legal Department, delivered the orders to the delinquent business owners and reminded them of the obligation of remitting their employees’ contributions.
The order stated that “based on preliminary inspection conducted on this establishment to determine compliance with the mandatory provision of the Social Security Act of 2018 (RA 1119), you are enjoined to settle your SSS legal obligations with the option to avail of the SSS contribution penalty condonation delinquency management and restructuring program for business employers.”
Fernandez said the RACE project which started in 2017 was to visit delinquent establishment owners and their account officers and remind them of their obligations and that they will face legal consequences if they do not comply with the order after the 15-day period.
He added that non-remittance of employees’ contribution is tantamount to depriving them of their right to social security and benefits.
According to Andrada, this is the second time that the SSS Olongapo City branch conducted the issuance of notices for delinquent employers inside Subic Bay Freeport. The first operation was conducted last April 28 covering 10 companies.
Marites Dalope, Olongapo City SSS Branch head said, a total of 606 employees will benefit once those 20 companies settle their SSS obligations.
In this freeport alone, there are 3,031 identified delinquent companies but the SSS branch here will continue to monitor and run after these companies, Dalope added.
Olongapo SSS Branch total revenue collection as of March this year from the RACE project netted P39.38 million, Dalope reported.
