IBA, Zambales (PIA) — Provincial Inclusive Innovation Center (PIIC) Team conducted an in-plant visit to three micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) beneficiaries in Zambales.
The group visited Sonia’s Sweets of Botolan, Laoag Kaunlaran Association of Cabangan and May Joy Dasca of Palauig.
President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU) Extension Coordinator Emelyn Bugayong said the visit aims to assess the effectiveness of the technology provided and how it advanced the productivity of the beneficiaries.
“The machines shortened production time by 50 to 80 percent,” Bugayong explained.
The technologies provided were developed by students of the College of Engineering of PRMSU.
These include Industrial Bamboo Stick Polisher Machine, Mechanical Banana Slicer, and Industrial Fish Crusher and Mixer.
For her part, Department of Science and Technology Provincial Director Bernardita Montevirgen stressed that the PIIC Program paved the way in identifying communities to be adapters of the research of state universities and colleges.
PIIC is the localized Regional Inclusive Innovation Center that guides MSMEs in accessing and using innovation resources for business resiliency and competitiveness; and streamlines the adoption of innovative technologies for improved production and post-production systems.
It is composed of PRMSU, DOST and Department of Trade and Industry. (CLJD/RGP-PIA 3)
