CLARK FREEPORT – Mabalacat City Mayor Cris Garbo, who assumed post only last July, has asked the Commission on Audit (COA) for a special audit of funds of the city government, amid missing records, especially on multi-million infrastructure expenditures.

In a forum here, Garbo reported that at least three public school principals have denied reports that various infrastructure projects worth about P8 million were accomplished in their schools.

He said the ghost school projects probably comprised only the tip of the iceberg of infrastructure anomalies since 2014.

Garbo said that records of infrastructure projects since 2014 were in two computers allegedly carted off by city engineer Ramil Canlapan who hasn’t reported to brief hospital workers there on avian-flu related concerns.

This, even as Fatone also urged livestock raisers to isolate their animals from avian flu-affected poultries. “Avian flu transmission to humans is rare but possible, so it is also possible that infected chickens can infect livestock,” he told Punto! in an interview here.

The BAI has continued to oversee the culling of some 200,000 chickens in Barangay San Carlos in San Luis, Pampanga, labeled as avian flu ground zero after the first avian fl u cases were confirmed there.

Some 600,000 more chickens have been volunteered by poultry owners to be also culled within the “controlled” seen-kilometer radius zone from ground zero.
