Reports reaching Camp Olivas here said Renato de a Cruz Agustin, 59, of Sitio Alasiin, Barangay Sta. Maria in Camjiling was shot dead after he retaliated against cop poseur-buyers in a buy-bust operation along Paterno Street downtown.
Tarlac police director Senior Supt. Alex Sintin said Agustin shot twice at the disguised cops who were arresting him after the shabu buy-bust.
The suspect was found to possess a .38 revolver with three live bullets and nine plastic sachets of suspected shabu and related paraphernalia. He reportedly operated largely in the towns of Camiling and Sta. Ignacia.
“He was listed No. 4 among Tarlac’s top drug personalities.” Sintin noted.
Meanwhile, another report from Gerona, Tarlac said the town’s “top drug peddler” was arrested also last Friday.
In his report, Gerona police chief Supt. Ariel Red identified the suspect as Ulysses Sapon Bautista, 43, of Barangay Poblacion 3 in Gerona.
Bautista was cornered in an entrapment operation inside the Eaglenest Subdivision in Barangay Parsolingan in the town. The arresting team was led by PO3 Domingo Pascua.
“Bautista’s arrest came after the series of apprehensions last month of the top three among this town’s top 10 drug personalities,” Red said.
Pascua, who acted as the poseur buyer, revealed that Bautista was riding the tricycle driven by Patricio Solomon when he sold a sachet of shabu to him.
Bautista later admitted to the police to have been peddling drugs in the last 20 years. He also disclosed that he and his unnamed “partner” regularly hired the services of tricycle driver Solomon to deliver illegal drugs within this town and also in Tarlac City.
However, the police did not arrest the tricycle driver as they allegedly found no “incriminating evidence against him.”
