CABANATUAN CITY – Four suspected drugs pushers were killed after they allegedly engaged lawmen in firefights in separate operations in Nueva Ecija on Friday.
Reports from the Nueva Ecija police provincial office said two of the fatalities, identified as Jonathan Miranda, 37, and Reyelito Ramos, 42, died in exchange of fire with policemen in Talavera police stations; one Ruben Galvez was killed in Lupao; and one Francis Liwanag in this city.
Investigation disclosed that operatives from Talavera police station conducted a buy-bust operation against Miranda, a hardware helper from Barangay DS Garcia here at about 6pm Friday. But the suspect who allegedly belonged to the police’s watchlist allegedly fired a .38 revolver towards other lawmen who were left with no recourse but to shoot back.
Ramos, a resident of Barangay Esguerra, Talavera town was killed in an earlier encounter after he allegedly fired a .38 revolver to operatives at about 12:15 a.m., also on Friday, according to the police.
Galvez, a resident of Barangay San Isidro in this city, reportedly sold a sachet of shabu for P500 to an undercover policeman but “suddenly drew his firearm and shot the operatives but missed” in a buy-bust operation hatched by policemen in Barangay San Antonio Este, Lupao, Nueva Ecija at about 11:50 p.m.
Lupao is approximately 55 kilometers away from this city.
Liwanag, 37, resident of Barangay San Juan Accfa here reportedly became suspicious and fired at undercover operative with a homemade .45 pistol after selling one sachet of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation at around 12:50 a.m.
Aside from the gun, police also seized the suspect’s improvised tricycle, investigators said.
