Jetstar Asia will resume daily services from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and increase services to Jakarta to nine per week from 15 December.
The two daily return services will provide more than 5,000 seats each week on two of the world’s busiest flight routes ahead of the New Year.
In addition, services to Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh will be increased to five and two services a week, respectively. Surabaya will also re-join the Jetstar Asia network which already includes Clark, Manila, and Penang.
Jetstar Asia CEO, Bara Pasupathi, said the recent easing of restrictions in Singapore allows connectivity through Changi Airport, which helps to revive Singapore’s air hub status in Asia.
“By increasing services to these key metros, Jetstar Asia will provide more travel options for essential travel as well as transit travel via Changi Airport, which will help capacity return to Singapore,” Mr Pasupathi said.
In December, Jetstar Asia will be the only Singapore-based low-fares carrier to operate services to Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur, with one-way fares to Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta starting from just SGD65 and SGD80 respectively.
“Our low fares will play an important role in helping our customers reconnect with family, help get people back to work and undertake other essential travel,” Mr Pasupathi added.
“This is a significant step forward in our recovery and we’re excited to welcome more of our people to work and back in the air.”
“It also provides excellent opportunities for freight companies as they continue to look for alternatives to scheduled flights which have been cancelled since COVID-19 hit. The daily services to Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta will support the growing demand for freight between these cities.”
Jetstar Asia has introduced a number of initiatives to improve safety and peace-of-mind when travelling domestically through its Fly Well program.
