CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – An ambulance with body markings of Capas, Tarlac and New Clark City was intercepted Wednesday afternoon in Magalang, Pampanga ferrying 80 boxes of alcoholic drinks worth P131,000.
Lt. Colonel Henry Flores, Magalang police chief, said the ambulance was flagged down by members of the 2nd Pampanga Mobile Force Company manning an enhanced community quarantine checkpoint past 4 p.m.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, Flores said cases of Emperador brandy and Ginebra San Miguel were found inside the ambulance. The vehicle was heading to Capas when intercepted at the police checkpoint. Magalang town shares a boundary with Capas.
Police said they also found an unlicensed .45 pistol concealed at the driver’s seat.
Arrested were Daniel Laxamana Dancel, 32, medical aide; and John Raven Yamson Quizon, 23, helper, both job order employees at the Capas, Tarlac local government unit.
Capas Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan said he ordered theimmediate termination of the two JO employees, even as he caused the filing of administrative and criminal cases in court against the two suspects who remain under the custody of the Magalang police.
Catacutan said police investigation is ongoing to determine the possible involvement of other LGU personnel who issued the travel pass of the emergency vehicle.
“Baka matagal na nilang ginagawa ang paggamitng ambulance para makalusot sa checkpoint, kaya kailangan maimbistigahang mabuti at kilalanin ang mga taong nasa likod nito. Kung kinakailangan kasuhan pati ang negosyante na may-ari ng alak ay gagawin ko,” Catacutan said.
