Widus Foundation gives P2-M for Covid-19 response

Widus cares beyond compare. Diosdado P. MacapagalMemorial Hospital Pulmonary Center medical team happily receives P1M worth of hospital and protective personal equipment from Widus Foundation Inc. (WFI) and Clark Development Corporation (CDC).

Widus Foundation Inc. (WFI), donates P2M in response to the Covid19 pandemic to the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) through its “Clark Cares” program, a disaster relief project in support of the frontliners and affected communities in Pampanga and Tarlac.

According to WFI Manager Ronnel Golimlim, P1.5M of the said donation will be utilized for personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies of 16 government hospitals and local infirmary units within Pampanga and Tarlac while half a million peso worth of food assistance will be given to some 1,000 families.

“We will specifically allocate P1M to the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital in Guagua which has been designated by the Department of Health (DoH) as the Pulmonary Center of Pampanga and the referral hospital to be used for persons under investigation (PUIs) for COVID-19. 15 other hospitals will be given PPE and medical support. We will also distribute essential food packs consisting of five kilos of rice and assorted groceries to affected underprivileged families, Aetas, and minimum wage earners,Golimlim said.

Distributed PPEs consisted of disposable gloves, coverall, washable face masks, face shields, head caps, eye protectors, shoe covers together with medical equipment such as thermal gun meter and laryngoscopy sets.

The 15 other hospital beneficiaries include: Pampanga Provincial Hospital; Ospital Ning Angeles (Rafael LazatinMemorial Hospital); Ospital Ning Capas; Health and Sanitation Division of CDC; Bamban Municipal Health Office; Candaba Infirmary Hospital; Dr. Emigdio Cruz Memorial Hospital; and R.P Rodriguez Memorial Hospital (CSF, Pampanga); Dr. Andres Luciano District Hospital; EscolasticaRomero District Hospital; Mabalacat District Hospital; R.P Rodriguez Memorial Hospital Annex; Domingo B. Flores District Hospital; Jose Songco-Lapid Hospital; San Luis District Hospital; and Romana Pangan District Hospital.

WFI partnered with CDC and Philippine Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to implement these projects which aim to augment the needs of medical frontliners in Pampanga and Tarlac for protective types of equipment and provide food assistance to its community members in need.

True to its commitment on serving the community, WFI Executive Director Neki Liwanag assures that the charity foundation will have more pandemic-relief efforts ahead.

“We at Widus will continuously work with CDC, PAGCOR andthe LGUs to create and implement various projects to support our fight against COVID-19,” Liwanag said.
