Bataan hotel prepared for frontliners

BALANGA CITY — The provincial government of Bataan on Friday announced that it was preparing a 23-room hotel here as temporary home for frontliners serving in the fight against the coronavirus disease.  

Gov. Albert Garcia said provincial engineers have already inspected and undertook some renovation on the Hillside Garden Mansion Hotel for more comfortand safety of the overworked frontliners.

Those who will be billeted in the hotel will be provided free transportation to and from their places of assignment.

“They will have no problem as to their food for the provincial government will shoulder it,” the governor said. “This is just one little way to show how thankful we are for the frontliners who are sacrificing their lives to save others.

Angel OrtizLuis, Bataan capitol information officer, said the hotel which has 23 rooms, six of which are suites, can accommodate 52 persons. The owner permitted the province to use it for free, she said.

“The provincial government provided additional beds, aircon units, and security for frontliners,” Luis said.

The hotel, conveniently located at the side of the Roman Highway in Barangay Munting Batangas,temporarily stopped operation to undergo renovation.

The family of Pampanga Vice- Gov. Lilia Pineda owns the hotel. OrtizLuis said that the provincial government was also eyeing the giant Bataan People’s Center and Bataan Library, all in Balanga City, as isolation centers for Covid-affected persons.
