CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A total of 569 unlabeled containers and 48 unlabeled gallons containing 10,992 liters of cooking oil estimated at P840,000 were seized by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in a trading shop in Barangay Sindalan here on July 23.
According to the CIDG, the CIDG Pampanga Provincial Field Unit and Special Operations Team of CIDG Regional Field Unit 3, together with the Special Operations Group of Police Regional Office 3, and City of San Fernando Police Station were implementing search warrant at the shop for violation of RA 9711 (Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009) that also resulted in the arrest of its owner.
A report that reached CIDG director MGen. Robert AA Morico II said the 52-year-old owner of the cooking oil establishment did not have any license to operate and certificate of product certification from the Food and Drug Administration, which made the manufacturing and trading of the products illegal.
Consumer products lacking FDA certification and approval pose severe health risks. Uncertified food products bypass safety checks and may contain toxic chemical residues, heavy metals, or recycled industrial waste. As these consumer products have not undergone FDA assessment their safety and quality cannot be assured.
Morico commended CIDG Region 3 chief Col. Grant A. Gollod and CIDG Pampanga headed by Lt. Col. Marlon M. Cudal for the confiscation of the unregistered cooking oil products and the arrest of the violator of law, saying the accomplishment underscores the CIDG’s unyielding stance in busting all illegal selling and trading of consumer products nationwide.
