CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — In just one day, five persons were killed and 54 were arrested in the police’s “simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operations” in Pampanga last Jan. 21.
Most of the fatalities and arrests were related to illegal drugs.
In a report, the Pampanga police identifi ed three of the four fatalities as Leonardo Carreon Altis in this city, Renato Manuntag of Candaba and Jeffrey Sioco of San Simon.
The report did not give details on their deaths, except for their alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
The two other fatalities were not immediately identified, but they allegedly disregarded checkpoints of the Commission on Elections in Sta Rita and Magalang towns. Police said the two shot it out with cops.
The provincial police held 42 simultaneous operations last Monday all over Pampanga resulting to the arrest of 54 “drug peddlers in different municipalities and cities of the province.”
The arrests were made in Apalit, Arayat, Bacolor, Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, Macabebe, Magalang, Mexico, Minalin, Porac, Sta. Ana., Sta. Rita, Sto. Tomas, Sasmuan, Mabalacat, and San Fernando.
“The anti–illegal drugs operation which were properly coordinated with PDEA RO3, also resulted to the confiscation and recovery of 249 sachets of suspected shabu, 10 sachets of marijuana and six firearms. Criminal cases for violation of RA 9165 are now being prepared against the arrested suspects,” police said.
