ANGELES CITY – “I am still consulting with our people.”
Thus, said city councilor Jesus “Jay” Sangil as he contemplates whether to run for vice mayor or just seek reelection in the city council.
“I am now in the process of consulting with our friends and leaders who belong to different sectors in our city,” he said here on Monday.
Sangil is the city council’s incumbent minority floor leader who ran successfully as an independent city councilor in 2016. He said he is contemplating of running for vice mayor in next year’s election if majority of the multi-sectoral organizations, including barangay leaders, religious and the academe would give him the green light.
“Pinupulso ko po ang opinyon ng ibatibang sektor sa ating syudad kung tayo po ay tatakbo sa pagka-bise alkalde,” he said.
Sangil was also a the three-termer councilor from 2004 to 2013. He successfully made a comeback in the city council in 2016 as an independent candidate.
If Sangil decides to run as an independent in the race for vice mayor, he will square off with the ruling Partido Abe Kapampangan party of City Councilor Edu Pamintuan, son of Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and running mate of Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno; Vicky Vega-Cabigting who is the running mate of Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. and Maricel “Marang” Morales who is the running mate of Alexander Cauguiran in the newly formed Kambilan Da Reng Abe party.
