ROXANNE BARCELO on finding love through dating apps…
“Yung mga barkada ko, lahat sila they married someone they met at the office. So paano ako? Asawahin ko yung love team? Very Marian, di ba? Parang hindi naman ganun ang buhay. I mean it works for some, it doesn’t work for most of us.”
Roxanne admits it’s been a while since she had a relationship.
Her last boyfriend was Will Devaugh.
They’ve been together for four and a half years and parted ways in the middle of 2017.
It’s been a year now, she’s single.
“Itong chapter na ‘to, in fairness, ang tagal! Ang haba ng single ako. Naiiirita ako, parang sa totoo lang.”
But at this point in time, she’s preparing for the next man in her life…
“Nung 2006 hanggang 2009, nung single ako, inisa-isa ko talaga lahat ng gusto kong qualities sa isang lalaki. Medyo emotional yung bakla nung binabasa ko ulit, kasi yun yung time na sobrang pure ng intentions ko na magmahal ulit. Talagang ipinagdadasal ko.”
After reading her christian book titled “Waiting For You”, she learns what would be the qualities for a long term relationship.
“Siguro through time, na-realize ko na I just want someone who I can be happy with. Kasi masaya naman na ako, e. Masaya ako with my family, masaya ako with my friends.
“Someone who can just complement what’s already going on sa buhay ko. Ayoko nang manggugulo, ayoko ng ilalayo ako sa pamilya ko.
“Someone who would love me and accept me for who I am becoming. Kasi nag-iiba tayo, di ba? So yun.”
Roxanne is into dating applications through Tinder and Bumble. Like someone as busy as me. Tayo.
“Ang dami nating ginagawa tsaka ang dami na nating na-meet. Is love really out there still?
“I appreciate this moment kasi may Bumble, may Tinder. There are so many apps where hindi na tayo kailangan tumambay sa mga kung saan-saang kanto para makatagpo ng love.
“Or hindi na kailangang magsimbang-gabi tayo every night, di ba? Aminin mo yun, girl!”
She also admits that being in showbiz doesn’t mean it would be easier for her to find the man of his dreams.
“Kasi, like ako, hindi naman ako nag-o-office. Yung mga barkada ko, lahat sila they married someone they met at the office.
“So, paano ako? Asawahin ko yung love team? Very Marian, di ba?
“Parang hindi naman ganun ang buhay. I mean, it works for some, it doesn’t work for most of us.”
Roxanne is doing a movie titled “Abay Babes”, where she found her partner on online dating.
“It doesn’t matter how she gets to point A to point B. Kung nasa point A siya, ‘Single ako, mag-online dating ako. Pak! The One.’ Parang, ang point A to point B is easier at this point.
“Tanggalin natin yung mga judgments about millennials and how they are.”
While looking for Mr. Right, Roxanne focus her attention to her work.
“Wala akong boundaries at all. May mga pelikula akong ginawa in between na independent and international. Talagang ibinigay ko ang lahat ko kasi wala akong fear. Finally na-experience ko yung wala akong limit when it comes to acting.”
Talking about her past love life…
“Bigay-todo naman tayo, e. I have no regrets. Ibinigay ko yung kaya kong ibigay at that moment.
“Feeling ko may ceiling na, ‘Okey na tayo. Napakita na natin lahat sa isa’t isa. It’s time to move on freely to the next chapter of our lives.”
