CITY OF SAN FERNANDO ~ The provincial government of Pampanga distributed medical kits and P550,000 cash assistance to 550 school district coordinators recently.

Vice Governor Dennis Delta Pineda said the distribution is part of the disaster risk reduction management plans of the Provincial Government and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Council (PDRRC) in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) Pampanga Division.

The vice governor was assisted by DepEd Schools Division Coordinator Raul G. Sarmiento, DepEd Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Leonardo D. Zapanta, PDRRM Offi cer Angelina Blanco and 3rd District Board Member Ananias “Jun” Canlas.

According to Blanco, the event is one of the many programs of the Pineda administration to allow public schools to take part on the disaster risk reduction management.

Blanco also added that there will be series of capacity building, trainings and seminars intended for district coordinators to improve preparedness and response before, during and after any cases of disaster.

“The involvement of our teachers play a crucial role in the community as they are also responsible for the safety of the children in school. Hence, they should be equipped with medical kits and they should also be equipped with knowledge on disaster operation,” Blanco said.

The provincial government is bent in ensuring that all sectors are fully prepared to all types of emergencies and in providing safety to the Kapampangans.
